Personal Musings

Fond eternal memories working for Phil Suslow on Maui 2011-2012 ...

Late 2011 October I arrived to the lower Kula home located on Piliwale Road, renamed Ho'Omaika'i Place, that Phil secured as his Maui work and retreat house until 2012 May.

If interested in LED lighting, check out Phil's company, Oznium.com.

Master Phil rented me a Bio-Beetle that was mileage efficient and perfect for shopping farmers markets and local organic retailers. For the day I buy a new vehicle, SOLD!

My job was to be the house chef, shopper and general PA. Did some container gardening too.

The home was close to Makawao, which I call "Rainbow Town" for obvious reasons.

The views were fabulous! The east sun rose from the mountain side and the sun set over the blue Pacific.

The owners of this beautiful home are proprietors of Dolphin Galleries. Their love of art shined throughout the house, making the perfect setting for Phil to invite his entrepreneurial guests from around the world.

Healthy cooking was delightful for Phil, his guests, and family. Pictured here is Phil with his mother and Uncle in the ambient dining room.

2011 December was a lunar eclipse morning filled with rainbows above and around the house. Positive shifts took place.

I'm pictured below with guest Dustin Maher, who loved my smoothies ...

Happy B-day Willie!
2012 April 30th lost video of pumping bio-diesel to refuel rental on Maui during the celebration for Willie Nelson's 79th birthday. Next day was my return home.

Pacific Biodiesel opened in my home neighbor town: Keaau, Big Island 2012 June. Such a blessing ... want a diesel car!

Full-cycle organic and native garden designing with permaculture style is my primary hobby. I love yurt living and write about it. My reading preferences are nonfiction and spiritual. Meditation, yoga, walking and qi qong are my daily exercises for mind, body and spirit.

Determined to walk the talk, my tree-hugger lifestyle is serious in Hawaii. My 452 square-foot home office yurt is with conventional electricity, but I hold a strong vision to convert to solar. I'm pleased with typical water catchment plumbing in the rain forest that includes a tankless water heater. Although there are screens on my yurt windows and doors, wandering friendly geckos periodically sneak in, hoping to enjoy the sport of eating mosquitoes and flies. Culinary linens are made from old clothes and my glassware consists of reused jars. In all, a vast difference from how I was raised as a blue-blood princess on a prominent Kentucky thoroughbred racehorse farm.

2011 May: Proud Mom + Son

I am a single proud parent of one son, Clayton Montgomery, who is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design. He is a graphic artist and entrepreneur who resides near San Francisco, and who freelances apparel and accessory designs. We've been known to teamwork; check out his videos.

My marriage to Clayton's father dissolved 2004 and in less than a year later my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I was planning a move to Hawaii, but life was put on hold to become her caretaker. I was blessed to be by her side when she passed peacefully in her Lexington, Kentucky home 2005 September. Soon after I accepted a dear friend's invitation to recuperate and prepare for my next phase of life in NYC for three months.

My 2006 March journey to Hawaii postponed memorabilia organization, but it's slowly happening. Left and below is my son at 5 months old, pictured with me for an August 17, 1980 article about hypnosis and his birth.

I was so fearful of pain in those days and women rarely shared details about childbirth. In fact, it was difficult to find books on the topic. Society has changed towards expectant mothers for the better, but I continue to highly recommend hypnosis. Enjoy the Lexington Herald-Leader article below by Kathy Fister, within two images.
